I don’t want to jinx it but there’s a chance we have found our future family home, and as the only thing we’ll be able to keep in it is the parquet floor, I need to rival Jesus turning water into wine by turning our small budget into a HMP home! Now if like me you have Elle Decoration taste but on an Ikea budget, here are some companies who will help you jazz up your Ikea furniture (in no particular order). No sand paper required!
superfront do high end look cabinet fronts, tops, sides, sinks, feet and even bathroom sinks. I love this combination!
I’ve already mentioned bemz on my blog a few times. Definitely my go to after looking for covers on eBay, especially if you have an old model like our Ektorp sofa bed.
thisismykea do great plain and artist designed stickers to customise your furniture. Brilliant for a kids room.
o’verlays do decorative fretwork panels which can be left white or painted to add a pop of colour to your furniture or walls.
prettypegs make gorgeous legs for your furniture. I couldn’t pick one image so here’s a screenshot of peg prettiness!
semihandmadedoors do cabinet fronts and are definitely a soft spot for wood lovers. You can either get the DIY shaker and paint it to suit (like in the gorgeous photo below) or check out their ECO wood collection! *swoon
Bemz can be on the pricey side so if your budget is tight, check these guys out (sorry for the stock photo, they have yet to build up some pin’worthy photos). And they get a bonus point for being British!
comfort-works not only do slipcovers (including leather) but they also do legs, a great tufting kit – so you can DIY a very popular hack of the karlstad sofa – and armrest trays (which I am a huge fan of as an excessive tea drinker).
panyl are a sticker company, they make Ikea pre cut stickers to fit most furniture including the kids’ fav the Kura bed and a favourite of mine the Ekby Jarpen shelves (pictured here). They also sell by the roll if you feel inspired.
New Swedish Design make cool add ons – or applications as they call them – for Ikea furniture like Expedit inserts, Hemnes changing table tops (pictured below) and I’m predicting to be very popular: Malm co-sleeper.
Happy (Ikea) making!
PS: not sponsored just inspired 😉
