Woodland party presents

Woodland party presents

So I recently organised my daughter’s woodland Birthday party so I thought I would share with you some of the gorgeous woodland kids’ items I came across. From presents, party fashion to party bag items. Starting with presents. I love giving books, whether activity, drawing or reading books. Usborne Illustrated Book of Nature. You can’t really beat an Usbourne book for kids. Usborne First Sticker Book Nature. My tip for the sticker books is that you can peal the white background sticker off, leaving it easier for little fingers to get the stickers off the page independently. RSPB Wild Nature Colouring Book. My mum got this for my daughter with a pen set and she loves it. It Starts With a Seed. Shhhh this is one of my daughter’s Christmas presents. Crafts are another favourite of mine. Obviously! Woodland Animals Paper Mask Craft Kit Woodland Stencils. I had these saved on my amazon wish list and was going to get them as a stocking filler but clearly great minds think alike and my mother in law gave them to my daughter as part of her Birthday present. Mila and Pheebs wonderful woodland box. I can’t remember how I discovered Mila […]

casa

Casa

casa is a great affordable French interior shop. I discovered it as a student living in Avignon. Like a lot of affordable shops, it was worth a regular visit to search out the gems… and gems you do find! I’m very lucky as my family now gets to spend our summers in France, staying with my mum, so yesterday I couldn’t resist a visit to casa. I’m helping my mum redesign and stage a flat for sale – I’ve done a scandi hygge design for it – and we found lots of casa gems to meet the brief. So I thought I would share my top casa gems with you. Starting with this scandi chair. It is gorgeous (we got 2 for the flat as they are completely on brief and budget friendly) and very sturdy. Also available in black. They have a similar one with thinner legs and a transparent seat. You get a discount if you buy 2 or 3. These yummy rattan items are very on trend. I love the stool. If you prefer the industrial style they have a great mini collection. The price here is for the large shelving unit back left. I love the wall […]

How to Marie Antoinette

Antoinette Annie Sloan

A few of you lovely people have asked how I come up with my room designs so I thought I would talk you through the creation of the Marie Antoinette tween bedroom. Like all good HMP designs, it started at my local charity shop where I was really feeling the rattan and came back with this gorgeous haul. I used the shelving units in my girls’ playhouse 1b but I only got the bedhead as it was too beautiful to leave in the shop. I had just been on my Annie Sloan painting course so I had a pot of Antoinette – a beautiful dusty pink – Annie Sloan chalk paint in the kitchen itching to be used. And the bedhead did call out for some pink, so after fixing it a bit (to make it symmetrical) I painted it and then waxed it with Annie Sloan clear wax. My eldest daughter was very intrigued by the bedhead and wanted to know more about this ‘Antoinette’ I was talking about. You see as a Frenglish family (French English) Antoinette is said the French way and sounded like I was speaking about a friend. Somehow the conversation when on to the fact that there was once […]
