H&M conscious home

H&M conscious home collection

A week inside due to the Beast from the East weather, has had me dreaming of warm dinner parties and earth tone bedrooms. Well the new H&M conscious home collection has all of that covered and I’m so in love with it, I had to share my favourite picks with you. If you follow my blog you will know that I’m a huge fan of the H&M linen bedding – especially for children as they often have problems regulating their body temperature as they dream and grow – as it’s great quality and really affordable. Well their conscious home collection (read organic cotton) is growing from strength to strength and I love that they are marrying: eco credentials, design and affordability. As the Beast from East was the result of Climate Change, it seems to make sense to show you some conscious home interiors! Here are my favourite picks starting with these gorgeous spring/summer tablecloths. The print is just stunning with big blooms and insects. You can either go bold with the print with the first tablecloth or a slightly softer look with the tablecloth in Old rose and the patterned runner on top. It would look gorgeous with mismatched vintage crockery, candles and big […]

Sugru

Sugru

I discovered Sugru on Instagram last year. I watched a video of it’s inventor Jane describing it as “if superglue and playdoh had a love child this would be it” and I knew that was my kind of love child. When I looked them up I found their “Fixer’s Manifesto” and I don’t think I could be more in love with a company. I want this tattooed on me I believe in it so much! (Mum don’t worry I’ll probably just print it on a tee!) So I’ve had it at the back of my creative mind waiting for the perfect project. At Christmas my mother in law gave me a M&S Amaryllis (you know once of those bulbs in a pot in a box). It was stunning! I couldn’t stop photographing it. Anyway it came in a gold plastic pot and as I can’t throw anything away, I wanted to use it in our sitting room but I find that if the plant pots don’t get some air circulating underneath them, I get mould under them. Yay I had my first Sugru project: adding feet to the plastic plant pot. For the feet, I got some beads from a large wooden […]

Pink and green

I love Frida Kahlo – her art and her strength which is such an inspiration – and my eldest now shares this love. I grew up with my mum saying: “Blue and green should never be seen, except on an Irish Queen.” Something which I repeat much to my daughter’s amusement. Why? What Irish Queen? Well my daughter very sweetly asked me if the saying could be adapted to “Pink and green should never be seen, except on a Mexican Queen” when she saw this photo, as she felt no one could ever pull it off as well as Frida! There has been lots of pink and green interior inspiration this last year. But I think these things build or do you just start noticing them more? Since looking at this photo, my eldest has asked if her next bedroom (the paint wasn’t even dry on the current redecoration!) could be a Frida inspired pink and green room, and now I am seeing pink and green everywhere! Here are some of my favourites from Instagram and Pinterest: This week Annie Sloan was equally obsessed with pink and green: in the first photo Amsterdam Green and Antoinette. And on her Instagram […]
