Pale Dogwood

Pantone Pale Dogwood

Pale Dogwood? No I haven’t gone mad, it’s a Pantone colour for Spring 2017. And like Greenery – the Pantone colour of the year – you will see this pink influence all things design this Spring and Summer – from clothes to interiors. To translate Pale Dogwood into interiors I was interested to see how it would look in paint. Using the Pantone reference, you can colour match to paint colours on the website e-paint.co.uk and the nearest match in Dulux was Autumn Fern 5. Top tip: if you go on the Dulux website and type in the colour you would like to try, you can get mini testers (30ml) sent to your home. Much cheaper than buying them in a shop and of course, a lot more choice. So I ordered up Dulux Autumn Fern 5 – the closest match to Pale Dogwood I could find – to try it out. But of course, as this is an interior trend, a few other pinks had caught my eye: Dulux Pink Nevada 6 was over all my Instagram stories a few weeks ago as Interior Stylist, Sophie Robinson, was trying to find the ‘perfect pink’ for her annex if you follow my blog you will know Farrow & […]

Chalking it up

Annie Sloan

My love of interior design is definitely inherited from my mother. By the time I met my husband, I had lived at 21 different addresses split between England and France, and 12 of those were before I’d left home (since we’ve added 7 addresses to that, split between the UAE, Canada and England!). Each of those 12 childhood homes were re-designed in some way by my mum and instilled in me a love of interior design. I grew up knowing names like Farrow & Ball, Osborne and Little, and Annie Sloan. Of course I – like most young adults in search of their own identity – have since explored my own design heroes but I am appreciating the classics more and more as I grow older. When we moved to Oxford nearly 2 years ago, the name Annie Sloan kept popping up. For those of you who don’t know, Oxford is Annie Sloan’s headquarters: where she lives, where her flagship shop is and now where she makes her paint (as she recently brought the manufacturing of her paint back in house to maintain quality control). Here’s an extract of Annie’s story: “She had three young boys under 7 at the time, so she had little time […]

Oh chandelier!

M&S light collection

My mum is currently looking for a chandelier and I need very little excuse to browse the internet. Now I came across the new M&S lighting collection and I was amazed! So I had to share my top 5 – and it was hard to limit myself to 5 – with you. Mila Chandelier: This is as ‘on trend’ as you get. Every magazine at the moment has a chandelier with wooden beads like this in it. Eloise chandelier: Like it’s name (a personal favourite of mine), this chandelier is a timeless beauty. It is 120cm long. Wow. Dakota chandelier: Another beautiful timeless chandelier. Shorter than the one above so would work if you have less ceiling height. Gem Ball Ceiling Pendant: This art deco inspired ball of beauty definitely makes a statement. I love the XL version but I also love the Medium version as shown here as decadent bedside pendants. 5 Light Puerto Chandelier: And to finish I had to include this pineapple delight. If you have seen my daughters’ bedroom, you will know I have a soft spot for a pineapple chandelier. And of course whilst you’re on the M&S website, don’t forget it’s Mother’s Day soon so have a […]
