Last week Dulux announced their colour of the year 2019: Spiced Honey. It’s a lovely warm colour which makes you want to snuggle up at home. So inspired by Spiced Honey and that Autumn feeling that makes you want to cosy up at home, I’ve done some simple paint palettes and styleboards.

Starting with an updated popular styleboard I did in May for a Mustard and Pink tween bedroom (click here to see the original). Hopefully this shows that you could add some Spiced Honey colour blocking to a room design you already have.  I’ve styled it with a white ceiling, two tone wall with Dulux Spiced Honey and Pink Nevada 6, and a wood floor. For a modern look, paint the skirting board in Spiced Honey.

  • Curtain: This is a linen blend curtain (so it doesn’t crease too much). Please note that this is a single curtain not a pair.
  • Chair: I love a good chair and this one you will keep for years.
  • Copper pendant light.
  • Linen bedding: I love linen bedding especially for children as they often have problems regulating their body temperature as they dream and grow. It’s also meant to look messy which is a plus in a kid’s room! H&M home have a lovely collection of affordable linen bedding and velvet cushions.
  • Copper custom print: you can have any saying printed.
  • Pair of copper mirrors.
  • Desk lamp with wireless charging, perfect for a teen.
  • Chest of drawers from the new IKEA catalogue
  • Floor cushions in pink and mustard: I love adding these to tween rooms as they are perfect for story reading, lounging, sleep overs and screen time.

This is also a Spiced Honey update on the Bear in a skandi wood nursery shop the look I did last year (click here to see the original). I’ve styled it with a white ceiling, colour block walls done with Dulux Spiced Honey, a line of Delhi Bazaar 4 and topped with Caramel Latte, and a wood floor. For a modern look, paint the skirting board in Spiced Honey.

This is my favourite, the mix of warm tones and the cool dark blue in this retro velvet sitting room. Pass the Martini! I’ve styled it with a European White ceiling for a warm feeling. Colour block walls done with Dulux Sapphire SaluteSpiced Honey and topped with European Whiteand a wood floor. For a modern look, paint the skirting board in Sapphire Salute.

And if you don’t want to paint a wall Spiced Honey, how about painting an IKEA KURA raised bed instead? It’s warmth is the perfect combination with this stunning wallpaper.  I’ve styled it with a white ceiling, wallpapered walls, grey carpet and Caramel Latte skirting boards.

  • Chair: I love a good chair and this one you will keep for years.
  • Wallpaper: Boråstapeter Scandinavian Designers Mini Charlie
  • Tassel garland – (Sorry for the drawing) I picked a seller who custom makes tassel garland and colour matched the drops on the wallpaper (request: Peacock, Dusty green, Burnt orange, Tan and Terracotta).
  • Raised bed – I love this IKEA KURA reversible bed and it lends itself to be hacked. Here it is shown as a raised bed (creating a den underneath), with the frame painted Dulux Spiced Honey and the panels wallpapered to match the walls.
  • Floor cushions in mustard in the den: I love adding these to kids’ rooms as they are perfect for story reading, lounging, sleep overs and screen time.
