Is there anything better than making something beautiful out of the contents of the recycling bin? I don’t think so, but then I am recycling mad and on this occasion my bin had cardboard and wallpaper off cuts in it.
I forgot to take the materials photo so in blogging terms did this make even happen?!?
To make this cardboard Easter wreath you will need:
- Cardboard. I used a fruit pallet from the supermarket.
- 2 sizes of plates to draw around
- A pencil
- A knife and strong scissors
- Glue
- Wallpaper off cuts
- Paint and a small brush
- Something to hang the wreath with. I used Jersey yarn but you can use ribbon or you may have a door you can hang the wreath from with a nail or removable hook.
Start by drawing and cutting out the wreath shape. I used two sizes of plates to do this. I find it’s easier to cut thick cardboard with a kitchen knife but then you have to remember to sharpen them on a regular basis.
I then drew the banner to go across the wreath.
I then drew the word Easter on the banner. You can either free hand this or print off a template by writing the word in Word in a large font. Of course you can write any word you want. Then I painted the banner. I used paint I had on the shelf.
Now on to the eggs. I cut out lots of eggs and used them as a template to cut the wallpaper. I used two different wallpapers.
I then covered the wreath with wallpaper by again using the cardboard as the template. There is a join which I stuck the banner over.
Then I played around with the placement of the eggs before committing and gluing them in place. I then looped the Jersey yarn through the top to hang it.
I had two eggs left over so I made them into little hanging decorations by adding paper to the other side and attaching the ribbons which I cut out of my tops. You know the ones which keep the clothes on hangers; I keep them all and they come in handy when I just need a short length of narrow ribbon.
Et voilà! My cardboard Easter wreath made with wallpaper off cuts. Completely free.
The wallpapers are Boråstapeter Flora and Vildtuta, and Clarke & Clarke Floretta. The paint is Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue and Calamine.

Small print: I made this Easter wreath as a gift for wallpaperdirect just because I’m nice like that.
